Virgin Labfest 4: Kapamilya, Kapuso, Kabisyo

Start:     Jul 6, '08 3:00p
Location:     Tanghalang Huseng Batute, CCP
June 26 (TH) – 3PM/8PM

July 5 (SAT) – 8PM

July 6 (SUN) – 3PM

Hase Hiroichi’s Amoy ng Langit

Directed by Toshiisa Yoshida

Featuring Mailes Kanapi, Martha Comia, Ana Deroca, Mica Froilan and Tara Cabaero

Ghosts are known to roam the world of the living because of unfinished business. This small and simple play about suicide, leaving and death happens on the rooftop of a school where no one is allowed to loiter. Yet a spirit manages to reconnect before finally heading “home.”

Layeta Bucoy’s Las Mentiras de Gloria

Directed by Tuxqs Rutaquio

Featuring Bart Guingona and May Bayot

Gloria, whose cancer kills her, appeals to her fraternal twin Utoy, to whom she appears as a bleeding ghost, to maintain the lies that she has been spreading to her faculty colleagues in the university. Utoy is compelled to obey by forced guilt and a macabre 'umbilical' connection. But beneath these secrets and lies are more secrets and lies and it seems the death of Gloria, no matter how sanitized, would only leak their foul stench even more.

Carlo Garcia’s Ang Mga Halimaw

Directed by Paolo O'Hara

Features JK Anicoche, Amihan Ruiz, Kristine Balmes, Alvin Obillo, Nar Cabico, Isab Martinez, Mara Marasigan,Philip Evangelista and Oscar Garcia

Small time criminals think big like their bosses. In this car scene, drama effectively unfolds with strange bedfellows for characters and a wonderful poetic wit that speaks the language of the damned. These murderers, who include an Operadang Bakla, a Taxi Drayber and a Lalaking May Pakpak make for one short glimpse of surreo-realism.

Tickets to the Virgin Labfest are at P200 for main exhibition sets, P100 for the symposium and "Pay What You Can" for play readings.

For more details, please contact Tanghalang Pilipino at 832-3661, or the CCP Box Office at 832-3704.

Spice Girls!!

But now I am a cough machine. Damn it!

I asked Angel to download the Spice Girls and Spice World albums for me. Girl Power! Hahaha. My-pechay-pie-gulay-wow! Hahaha.

I once had a Spice Girls notebook and pencil set. Mama bought me the Spice Girls tape, my first non-Disney album, when I was in grade 4. Now, I'm trying to remember the dance steps of "Wannabe".

My gas, the memories.

------------------------------
I'm no longer sniffing.

But now I am a cough machine. Damn it!

Nuod kayo ng INSIANG. Magaling talaga. Suportahan!

The Theater Checklist

[x] 1. You’ve said countless times, "I can’t. I have rehearsal."
- Excuses, excuses. At least I'm not lying.

[x] 2. Anyone who says Macbeth has a death wish.
 - Theater superstitions are my favorite. Break a leg, bawal ang mani, Chicharap...

[ ] 3. You realize theater is your social life and you don’t have any friends outside of theater.

[x] 4. If you're an actor, tech people become your heroes.
- Mabuhay sila! They are the best source of theater chismis! Hello batute tech people!

[ ] 5. You think the Reduced Shakespeare Company is hilarious and understand the jokes while other people watching it are confused.

[x] 6. You want to shoot people who think putting on a production is easy.
- Hay.

[x] 7. Stress is a way of life.
- Stress makes us appreciate life. Hahaha.

[x] 8. Cast parties rank right up there with birthday parties.
- Equal between Cast parties and Vice parties

[x] 9. You never realized how much fun you had at rehearsals until you don’t have any more.
- Rehearsals, hell week, playtime, shows... lahat na!

[ ] 10. You’ve been quoted on the Quote Wall.
Patuloy.

[x] 11. You can’t seem to memorize your lines, but you know everyone else’s lines verbatim.
- Especially the roles you want to play. At some point, you also memorize the blockings.

[x] 12. You have the urge to be in character in public.
- Guilty

[x] 13. Once the production is over you don't know what to do with your time.
- I end up sleeping late even if I have nothing to do.

[ ] 14. You complain about how ugly your costume is.
- I actually found all of my costumes interesting. Tapos!

[x] 15. You absolutely love your costume and want to steal it from the costume room after the play is over.
- Favorite costumes so far: Blue table cloth gown and Ondine outfit from Ondine, Pink gown with Christmas balls from Tempest, Ninoy shirt from Birthday ni Guido ;>, Jungle outfit and daster from Rite of Passage, hahahaha.

[x] 16. You think your director is the coolest guy ever.
- Go!

[x] 17. You think your director is an idiot.
- I had a director once who would let us mark our scenes in every rehearsal. Alison, kilala mo 'to! Buti hindi natuloy yung prod na yun!

[x] 18. You love going to see other productions just to compare them to yours.
- You don't really compare. You just criticize a bit, then realize not to do this and that because they did it and it didn't work and... compare. :D

[ ] 19. You argue with your director about which play to do next.

[x] 20. You go see other productions and cringe when you see people that can’t act.
- I say "Oh no!" Cringe, close my eyes and whisper to myself "There's no place like home. There's no place like home!"

[x] 21. Homework? Never heard of it.
Siyempre!

[x] 22. You could easily set up a cot and live in the theater. You’re there all the time anyway.
- Papa: Nasan ka na?!? Gabi na a!
Ako: Nasa CCP/School/<insert rehearsal venue here>, di pa kami tapos
Papa: O sige ingat ka.

[x] 23. You dread the thought of having rehearsal, but the second you get there you don’t want to leave.
- Sometimes on my way to rehearsal I would think of quitting. But when I get there I realize that this is what I to do even if I won't get rich. Hahaha.

[x] 24. You meet someone from another theater and instantly become best friends.
- I met someone... Ahihihihi!

[x] 25. You beg all of your friends to come see you in the play when you are only onstage for two minutes.
- Or let them watch an R-18 play and tell them "wholesome ako dito!!"

[ ] 26. You have lost count on how many times you've died.
- Mulan - 1, Crucible - 1, R.U.R. - 1. Yun pa lang.

[x] 27. You don't think twice about seeing guys in make-up or tights.
- and men wearing t-backs.

[x] 28. You're in public and look like you're talking to yourself because you are reciting your monologue.
- Sa jeep, sa kainan, sa bahay, sa paaralan...

[x] 29. You are a techie and want to strangle the actors because you have their lines memorized better than they do.

[ ] 30. You think Shakespeare was a genius but dread putting on one of his plays.

[x] 31. You know what Hell Week is.
- Mabuhay ang Hell Week

[x] 32. If you put on a musical, you randomly sing all the songs at any time of day even if it is a musical you hate.
- Tunay

[x] 33. Sleep? What is sleep?
- Nadulas? - hay naku Alvin! Ang corny. Pero natawa pa rin ako. Hahaha.

[ ] 34. Techies and actors don't understand each other, but they pretend that they do.

[x] 35. You swear like a sailor.
- Tuwing may prod ako, matindi ako magmura

[x] 36. You've been dubbed a "Stage Nazi" or a "Tech God."
- Agnoia

[x] 37. There's more drama backstage than there is onstage.
- "Hala si Roselyn tulog sa backstage!" - The Crucible production, 2001

"Asan na si Isab??" - Mulan prod, 2007

[ ] 38. Actors and techies argue about who has more work.

[x] 39. You're on your deathbed and miss school, but you somehow manage to go to rehearsal.
- Eh ganun e.

[x] 40. You quote lines from previous plays you've done when you have casual conversations with friends.
- Sabi nga sa Agnoia...

[x] 41. You suddenly realize that your entire wardrobe is black.
- Mainit nga lang.

[ ] 42. Theater sex. Enough said.
- May alam ako... pero hindi ako.

[x] 43. You know what spiking is, and it's not what you do to hair.
- Spike here, there..

[x] 44. You've been working with the same people so long that you have blackmail to last a lifetime.
- Morality clause!

[x]45. You've been injured so many times it's a miracle you're still alive.
- I am prone to sprains. My right leg still hasn't recovered from a stupid warm-up that I did last year.

[x] 46. Applause after a show is the best sound ever.
- Sigh.

[x]47. You have a sigh of relief when you are doing a comedy and you hear the audience laughing.
- Ah... tawa pa!

[x] 48. You can't remember what a home cooked meal tastes like, but you can remember every single way Taco Bell makes a taco or burrito.

[x] 49. You know you're a theater guy when you can put on makeup better than half the girls in your school.

[x] 50. Modesty is long forgotten.
- Modest? hindi ba napkin yun

[x] 51. You pride yourself in how fast you can strip your clothes off and change costumes. (Or help people strip!)

[x] 52. People who aren't in theater just aren't cool.
- Let me rephrase this. People who don't appreciate theater just aren't cool.

Total: 42/52

The Mulan Experience and back to Estudyante Blues

My ever supportive mother and father plus sister. With Ed the green-faced monster who is thinking of making more luminous products. Thank you brother for the camera.

The boyfriend and his boyfriend.

More pictures here!!!!

Sa mga hindi nakanuod, you missed half of your life. Hahahaha!
---------------------------------------------

Nakakatawa kapag sa Meet and Greet merong lalapit, "Kuya pwedeng papicture tayo?".

Dapat nag-aaral ako ngayon dahil may dalawang exams ako bukas. Pero hindi, heto ako, nagmumultiply. Talaga nga naman o!

Sige na nga, susubukan ko nang mag-aral. O kahit kunwari lang muna.

Potah Red Shoes

I have been searching for the perfect pair of red shoes. There was this pair that I liked but the only size available was 5. Size 5!! Wah!! Why do I have to be a size 7 and at times size 8?!? Boohoo!

And when I was about to give up, I saw this pair at the top of the shelf.

Plus Manong bought a new digicam which I can not take out of the house. But I hope he uses all the features to its maximum potential. So... here is a picture of the beautiful shoes.

I would have wanted to take more (and better) pictures. But apparently Manong's camera runs on AA batteries. And I don't want to go out in this cold weather just to buy batteries for a camera that I can't abuse.

Anyway, while I was walking around in the house wearing these shoes (I was really excited, I can't help it!), I made a theory of why I am now into these kind of shoes.

It's the SPICE GIRLS MENTALITY!!!! Yes, I am still a Spice girl fan deep inside.

Masyado na kasing naiipit ang Spice girl in me, kaya heto, nagpuputukan.

hmm... something is wrong with me

There was this one time last year, my mom told me that she bought a new can opener. That was the time when I ate a lot of pork and beans for breakfast and/or lunch and/or dinner. When I saw the can opener, I was so happy because I won't be having a hard time opening a can of pork and beans. I was explaining to my sister how happy I was with the can opener, then tears started pouring.

I cried over a new can opener. Weird, di ba? Alam ko.

I was listening to the soundtrack of "Amelie" the other day. The song I was listening to had a fast beat. I can't even remember what scene that music was played. Later, I was getting teary eyed while walking towards the LRT station from school.

I cried because of... HINDI  KO ALAM. Hahahahahaha.

Ang labo. It must be hormonal or something. Hahaha. Excuses.

I get teary-eyed for something stupid or lame. What is wrong???

---------------------------

Sobrang sakit yung sinusubukan mong huwag umiyak.

Updates

Our summer production is doing well. This week, all we did was analyze our characters and our relationships with other characters. Hard-core. Himay-Himayin natin.

But we have no venue and no money for these two plays that we are doing. Hmmm....

Not that well. Not well at all. Sponsor kayo diyan.

------------------------------------------
Had a brief chat with William Herbert Sigmund Go. I miss him. He was the one who kept pushing us to not waste what we have learned in high school.

He gave me tips on how deal with our characters.
herbert go: it would also help to imagine casting your role. para meron kang character peg
herbert go: kahit man on the street, imagine mo lang kung pano kung siya yung character

when meme attacks

I wanted to post an entry. But I have nothing interesting in mind

Here you go. Malunod kayo. Bwahahahaha
You Are Smokin' Hot

You're a terrible flirt, a sharp dresser, and a party animal.
Of course, you're totally sizzling too. And for you, being hot just comes naturally.

You Should Paint Your Room Blue

Peaceful and soothing, blue rooms have been known to reduce blood pressure.
Your blue room will encourage deep rest and great sleep.
A blue room is the perfect oasis for a stressful life.

You Belong in 1980

If you scored...

1950 - 1959: You're fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!

1960 - 1969: You are a free spirit with a huge heart. Love, peace, and happiness rule - oh, and drugs too.

1970 - 1979: Bold and brash, you take life by the horns. Whether you're partying or protesting, you give it your all!

1980 - 1989: Wild, over the top, and just a little bit cheesy. You're colorful at night - and successful during the day.

1990 - 1999: With you anything goes! You're grunge one day, ghetto fabulous the next. It's all good!

You Are 72% Happy

You are a very happy person. Generally, you feel content and that all is right with the world.
Occasionally, you have a down day - but you have the ability to pick yourself right back up.

Exotic Dancer Name Is...

Jade

You Are 74% Sexy

Your Sex Appeal Is: Extremely High

You're very sexy. You just have that certain something that takes over a room.
You know how to attract, entice, and keep whoever you want. You are truly appealing.

What Your Sleeping Position Says

You are calm and rational.
You are also giving and kind - a great friend.
You are easy going and trusting.
However, you are too sensible to fall for mind games.

You Will Die at Age 76

You're pretty average when it comes to how you live...
And how you'll die as well.
