Because I Got Bored During Lit Class

World Literature. The one subject I was excited about during enrollment. But then, I got bored today. That is why I made a list of things/events that I wanted to share with you and you and you and you.

------------------------------------------------
My IT professor looks like Mr. Hyunh from "Hey Arnold!" except he has no glasses and he is Chinese. They even wear the same clothes. I'm not kidding. Sayang at wala akong kaklase na pangalan ay Arnold.

--------------------------------------------
According to my Lit professor, Shakespeare is gay and he was single all his life. She wrote Pygmalion on the board with two L's.

--------------------------------------------
I like getting warm hugs because "I miss me too". Hahahaha.

--------------------------------------------
I want to watch "Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah Ze Muzikal" for the nth time. Birthday gift?

-------------------------------------------
There's a mouse in our house. I shall call it Mong.

  3. That's a popular theory, yes. I suppose its his frequenst use of the pronoun 'he" in his sonnets. But then again, one must keep in mind that his patron was a man. It was not unusual for poets back then to address the male patron in their poetry.

And as for Bill being single all his life. . . what about Anne Hathaway? And their kids??

  4. I told her about the wifey and the kids. But she kept insisting that he is gay and he was single all his life. Pagkasabi niya parang greatest discovery in life niya yun. Sinabi niya right after the report of my classmates about Sonnet 18. And everytime we would talk about Shakespeare, sasabihin niya ulit na "You know class, Shakespeare is a gay". Oo, is a gay daw.

Ginawan ko na siya ng backstory. In her last relationship, she realized that he was gay. Kaya pati si Tito Shakespeare pinagkakalat niyang "is a gay" na parang proven na talaga.

  5. Geez. I actually discuss Sonnet 18 in my world lit classes (it's my uber fave, hence my email addy). I mention to the students the queer theory, of course, but I also tell them about the patronage issue. Sonnet 18 was actually written for his patron Henry Wriothesley, the Earl of Southampton.

Heto pa pala, sabi niya na there is one scholar who was very interested with Shakespeare that he studied his life and learned he is gay. She even wants to show me the article so I would shut up. Pero hindi e. Hehe.

I shall tell her about the patronage issue... ang saya siguro nun. :)

  7. Sino, si C.S. Lewis? Hehehe. Uber Christian yun eh. Isa pa, should the bard's sonnets be the actual basis for our judgement of him being a homosexual (not that his sexual preference really matters to us now)? Sabihin mo the poet is different from the persona in the poem :D

Hehehehe. Kaaliw to play devil's advocate noh? ;p

  8. Ewan ko sa kanya kung sino. Bibigyan niya daw ako ng copy ng article na yun.

  9. Ay i note mo din yung pag shift ng use of pronouns. Kasi in that sonnet, the persona refers to the beloved by using "thee", "thou" and "thy" di ba. Meaning to say, 'you' and 'yours.' Pero nag shift sa "his" later on. Kasi kamo, yung 'his' na yun refers not to the beloved but to something else. Yung eye of heaven which is the sun (and often is his gold complexion dimmed). Saka Death (brag thoug wander'st in his shade). So pwede talagang hindi male yung kinakausap, hehehehe.

    Good luck!
